Latest on the Blackburn saga - the club has issued a statement this evening. The relevant section states:

"Blackburn have agreed to change the date of the fixture to Wednesday 8th May on the basis that they have safeguarded their Premiership place in the meantime and we fully understand that position. We will, therefore, have to wait until this weekend's games have been played and a final decision on the date of the fixture will be made on Monday morning (29th April 2002)."

A message from the Hillsborough Justice Campaign:

Following the break in at our premises on Monday, 15th April, 2002, the Justice Campaign expresses our sincere gratitude to those who have given support to help us back onto our feet. The break in was not an isolated incident, and is not thought to be a random opportunist attack.
During the previous evening the Hillsborough Centre (social services office) was burgled and computer equipment stolen. In both incidents other items of value which would normally disappear in a burglary, e.g. hi-fi, were not taken. Also, in both burglaries, professional (a uniformed professionals view) techniques were used.

These attacks may be connected with a recent (1st week in April) hold up in a victims case whereby the defendants(SYP etc) claim to have confidential information from the counselling services and are using the information to delay settlement of the action which they have already agreed in principle. It is also thought that the attacks are linked to the momentum building up for Anne Williams' presentation to the Attorney General for a re opening of the inquest on her son Kevin.

These vindictive and disgraceful tactics are typical traits of those who perpetrated the disaster who have consistently shown a blatant disregard for the suffering of victims and will stop at nothing (literally) to hinder those who challenge them. The Justice Campaign would like to thank everyone who has offered their support, cash, computer, peripherals, book publishing and plain simple words of support. Your support is our lifeline. A special mention to the lad who sent £96 and asked for flowers to be laid at the memorial.

The Justice Campaign will continue until responsibility for the killing of 96 people is apportioned to those who perpetrated the disaster. Justice has to be done and seen to be done. Support the Hillsborough Justice Campaign.

LFC has reiterated than anyone caught bringing a flare into a game at Anfield will be banned for life. One fan arrested in the Main Stand for lighting a flare against Roma has also been banned from all sporting events in the UK for 3 years. Continuing lighting of flares may also affect Anfield's application for a safety certificate and lead to the banning of flags, banners and mosaics. Leverkusen away - well complaints galore about the way tickets were allocated to ETC members. Many fans complained that the details of the number of games they have travelled were wrong. Confusion also seemed to reign over eligibility for those who had travelled with Lonsdale previously. Fans were told these trips were not counted by LFC towards priority for an away ticket as Lonsdale do not provide the club with a list of the ETC numbers for those who went.

Also problems at the game itself with poor stewarding at the away end. "Chaos" was how it was described by many who tried to enter via Gate G (we also had fans in F4). Loads of forgeries in circulation of a very unsophisticated ticket. Some of our fans got in with forgeries, some failed to get in with original tickets. Also a high amount of congestion around G pre and post game.

If you have had problems email us and we'll approach the club to pass on your views and try and clarify the situation over priority for next season.

Eurofans Press release
Glasgow's Hampden Park, which will host the 2002 Champions' League final, has a capacity of 52,500 seats. More than half of it will be reserved for VIPs and sponsors. The participating sides will only receive 14,000 tickets each. UEFA is giving 24,500 tickets for the most important game in European football to people who are not directly concerned with it: VIPs, sponsors, club and FA officials and other fairweather visitors.

Many more fans from the participating teams are expected. Therefore, many tickets not given directly to fans will end up on the black market, where true fans have to pay extortionate prices to attend their team's biggest match. Out of their contingent, clubs will serve their sponsors and VIPs again. This means that the majority of the tickets for the final at Hampden Park are not available for fans.

Eurofans initiated the following letter - demanding a fair ticket allocation - from fan groups of the clubs participating in the Champions' League quarter finals to UEFA president Lennart Johannsson.

If you want to support our request, please write an email to UEFA. Tell them your thoughts about the ticket allocation for the Champions' League final.

Dear Mr Johansson

We, the undersigned fans' representatives of the eight 2001-2002 Champions' League quarter finalists, wish to register our protest at the proposed ticket allocations for this year's final, to be staged at Hampden Park, Glasgow.

We feel that an allocation of 14,000 tickets per team is a recipe for disaster. Not only could each of our clubs quite comfortably sell many more tickets, but it is obvious that thousands more fans - and in some cases tens of thousands - will travel to Glasgow.

This will give rise to increased touting, profiteering and forgery, as well as being a blatant security risk and amplifying the chances of violence. As peaceful football supporters, this is simply unacceptable to us.

We hereby urge you to reconsider the allocation before disastrous consequences are realised. It is surely unfair that the fans of the two most successful clubs should make do with less than half of the tickets between them.

Yours sincerely,

Signed by the representatives of
Club Nr 12 (FC Bayern)
Gate 13 (Panathinaikos)
ILSA (Liverpool FC)
IMUSA (Manchester United FC)
L'Elefant Blau (CF Barcelona)
Orgullo Vikingo (Real Madrid CF)
Supporters organisation of Deportivo (La Coruna)
and the elected Spokesman of Bayer Leverkusen fans
