Ahead of this season's first European home match against FC Basel the
club have once again told supporters not to bring flares into the stadium
clash. They have stated:
"Any fan found with one of the highly flammable distress
flares inside the ground will immediately be prosecuted and banned
from the stadium for life"
Liverpool's Stadium Manager Ged Poynton went on to say:
"We are not only urging supporters not to bring flares into
the stadium, but we want fans to be self- policing and report those
who they see lighting them. The safety of all our fans is paramount.
We are not just trying to be bad guys here. Liverpool are one of few
clubs in the country who encourage flags and banners inside our stadium.
Look around the country and you'll see it doesn't happen anywhere
else. Flags and banners help the atmosphere. Flares do not."
