Worthington Cup Final Ticket Warning - the club have announced that a couple of hundred tickets for the Cardiff clash with Manchester United were taken from a postal van in Walton village.

The Club know exactly which tickets have been stolen and can identify them immediately. They are advising fans not to buy from unofficial sources. We'd advise anyone offered a ticket whose origin they are unsure of to check with the Ticket Office.

Any supporter arriving at the Millennium Stadium next month with one of these stolen tickets will either be refused entry at the turnstiles or ejected from their seat inside the ground.

A summary of an article in today’s Echo about the new stadium:

The multi million pound Regeneration of North Liverpool project is about to get under way. The first phase of the £250m project will involve hundreds of homes being refurbished. In the next few weeks a detailed planning application from Liverpool Football Club is expected to be submitted to planning chiefs. The City council will form a joint venture company with Liverpool Football Club with all profits being pumped directly back into the local community for further regeneration work.

The development also includes a village centre, a new shopping centre at the junction of Oakfield Road and Walton Breck Road, a Health Centre and internet café and extensive landscaping of the area.

The new Liverpool FC stadium will be built at one end of Stanley Park. This will house a new Vernon Sangster Community Sports Centre together with an education centre. The remainder of the park will be restored and improved with work including the restoration of the Gladstone Conservatory as a visitors centre and café.

Later the existing stadium site will be redeveloped to create Anfield Plaza, a new public open space. Park and ride and park and walk schemes will also be launched and operate on match days. Improvements to the roads in the area will also take place with additional bus lanes and an extension of the resident-only parking.

Les Wheatley, director finance at Liverpool FC said that a planning application should be available by late spring.

Touting - if you are offered a ticket for above face value or see an agency touting a ticket for a Liverpool match, we would urge you to report them as follows:

fl@football-league.co.uk (Worthington Cup)
customerservices@liverpoolfc.tv (all games)
info@the-fa.org.uk (FA Cup and Premier League)

Also email your local trading standards officer. Recent efforts in chasing up those touting tickets have seen Season Tickets and PTS memberships removed, and agencies heavily fined.

The BBC and Hillsborough - a message from the Hillsborough Justice Campaign:

During the production of the recent film “Bowling For Columbine”, Michael Moore bought footage of football hooliganism under licence from the BBC. The footage that was used to illustrate football hooliganism and violence, in the film, including clips from the Hillsborough Disaster. The disaster has been the subject of various enquiries in the UK, and the British Judicial system has consistently found that violence or hooliganism played no part whatsoever in the disaster. Indeed the major inquiry into the disaster The Lord Justice Taylor report found that “The main cause of the Disaster was the breakdown of police control”. The representation of the disaster in this matter causes much grief and stress for the bereaved families of the disaster. It should be remembered that this disaster brought the death of 96 innocent men, woman and children. more here>>
