Once again the fans made their views towards a ground share abundantly
clear at the Charlton game today with some vociferous anti-ground share
chanting. It can only be hoped that the City Council and the NWDA start
absorbing these clear statements of anger by the fans.

Rick Parry and LFC have issued a further statement regarding developments
today in the ground share "debate". It can be read here>>
Everton have also issued a statement here>>

Discussing the ground share issue pre- and post-game on Saturday it
became immediately obvious that many fans find the idea so ludicrous
that they are dismissing it totally out of hand as having no chance
of happening. The problem with this incredulity is it allows those pushing
the agenda to operate in an apparent vacuum. Many fans are not getting
worked up as they refuse to believe there's any possibilty of us moving
in with Everton. We think this is a dangerous position to lapse into.
Meanwhile the Daily Post has another pro-ground share article. That's
now 15 in favour and none against between Echo/Post. The Post and Echo
are abusing their monopoly position as the sole provider of local print
media. They are not asking the questions that need answering and they
are not allowing those against the ground share to put their views forward
as articles.
Why has no mention been made of the common background between the developer,
David Taylor and his David Taylor Partners consultancy, looking to build
the stadium (and thus profit by millions) and the head of the North
West Development Agency, Bryan Gray, who has control over government
grants which could facilitate either our move to Stanley Park (and the
regeneration of the Anfield-Breckfield area) or this unnatural coupling
at the Docks?
Mr Taylor has been a non-executive director of PNE plc (the holding
company for Preston) since 1996. Mr
Gray was Chairman of PNE plc from 1994-2001 and is currently a Vice-President
of Preston.
The land on which the proposed shared stadium would be built is owned
jointly by the Mersey Docks
and Harbour Company and English
Partnerships. English Partnerships is the national regeneration
agency and part of it's remit is to develop and maintain a national
brownfield strategy, as well as acquiring and redeveloping brownfield
land in both public and private sector ownership. By an amazing coincidence
David Taylor was the first chief executive of English Partnerships.
What a tangled web we weave.

A protest took place on the Kop today against the ground share - it
received some small coverage in passing on Radio City.

Rick Parry has issued a statement via the official site today re: the
latest ground share nonsense from the council and the Echo and Posts
advertising features for the Developeers of the Central Docks. It can
be read here>>
There's an article on the issue on the Red
and White Kop site which we feel covers the views of many Reds on
this force-fed ground share debate.

ILSA comment: The council today has issued a statement urging Liverpool
and Everton to get together to hold talks over a ground share. This
has followed on from statements made by the North West Development Agency
suggesting they'd only contribute finance to a shared stadia (previously
it had been expected that they'd contribute to the Anfield-Breckfield
Regeneration Scheme and thus our new stadium on Stanley Park).
ILSA believes a ground share is the height of folly. We're a world
class club and are capable of building and financing our own world class
stadium. We urge the club to come out with a statement of intent to
only build a new stadium solely for our use. We also suggest that consultation
with fans should be started at the earliest possible stage. Only hand
in hand with the fans do we believe the club will be able to resist
what appears to be a well orchestrated campaign to force us into a ground
share.
The current one-sided "debate" being fostered on the people
of Liverpool by the Liverpool Echo and Daily Post is doing a disservice
to such an important issue which affects the future of this club for
the next 50 years. There is no sense of balance or indeed reflection
of the true views of the fans which are overwhlemingly against a ground
share.
This proposal is not wanted by Liverpool fans, nor we believe the club,
and is being driven by developers and government agencies for their
benefit alone.
We don't want a shared stadium. We don't need a shared stadium. As
such we urge all Reds to make themselves and their views heard at the
first possible opportunity.
