Ahead of the Galatasaray away game, both LFC and RAOTL/ILSA members have offered some advice:

LFC - The fantastic reputation of our fans was recognised by UEFA last year, and if you're going to Istanbul we want your journey to be as safe and enjoyable as European trips should be. So please don't travel without a ticket as you won't get in and make sure you look after it as duplicates cannot be issued.

Don't forget you need a visa to enter Turkey - you can buy them on arrival for £10. There'll be a large police presence - a normal procedure - and it's best to get there an hour before kick off. You'll be kept in for 45 minutes at the end. Entrance to the ground is via gate 26.

Seats are uncovered so take warm, waterproof clothing. Fans will be searched and anyone judged to have drunk excessively won't be admitted to the stadium. Alcohol, coins, lighters, cans, bottles, bags and flagpoles will be confiscated, though banners are welcome.

If you're heading for nearby Taksim Square, the adjoining alleyways are best avoided. Last but not least, we know you'll respect our hosts and their national flag. Remember, we're renowned for being the best fans around.

RAOTL/ILSA - If you do go to Taksim (and it's the drop off point for Lonsdales because it's the biggest square & there's room for the coaches), then take a taxi straight to the old city - known as "Sultan Ahmet" which is their name for St. Sophia's.

Don't miss a quick visit to Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque & St. Sophia's itself. Do all that in an hour and a half and then there's good bars & restaurants up there, get stuck into the Efes (the local brew).

If yo get a chance eat in one of the many fish restaurants along the Bosphorus - they're among the best in the world.Best to avoid raki before the match - you won't remember the match.

It's the small "pasaj" alleyways NEAR Taksim that are considered "dangerous" because they impossible to police, and just because that's where the stuff went off 2 years ago.
But really Taksim area is just a non-entity and not one for tourists at any time of the year.

24/2/02
The RAOTL - Toffeeweb match ended up as a 3-3 draw. Once again a three figure sum was raised for the HJC. Well done to all concerned.

21/2/02
The biannual fixture between the fine Liverpool fanzine Red All Over the Land and Toffeeweb, purveyor of all things Evertonian, takes place this Saturday at LFC's Academy prior to the afternoon's main course at Anfield. Kick off for the mini-mini-derby is at 10-30am and all the money raised will go to the Hillsborough Justice Campaign. Get down there for 10am and support the lads and lasses for a worthy cause.

19/2/02

Photos circulating on the web of a possible new Reds kit for next year with a modified badge. The badge dispenses with the Shankly Gates and YNWA and has a bigger retro-style Liverbird with an eternal flame to the left.

If this is the proposed kit the changes to the badge reflect comments Rick Parry made to ILSA in our meeting>>
